As the teacher shortage continues throughout the country, salaries vary wildly, and the quality of the education that we receive may not be comparable to what some would expect to get paid. A recent analysis from PayScale reported that the median salaries for both teachers in public schools and private schools were $25,000 and $16,000, respectively, in 2018. This means an annual income of about $25,000, or about Rs 33,000. There has also been a steady increase in government pay since 2015 for all professionals above age 35, which was $890 per year for those over 50 years old in 2018. And while these numbers can look different depending on whether you’re talking directly or indirectly with a person who works as a teacher, they generally vary between districts, even within the same district, making them difficult and inconsistent to compare. Firstly, I recommend starting off by asking yourself two questions:
What aspects of my role do I enjoy? What elements of this profession am I not passionate enough to continue doing regularly? How might I improve myself to make more money?
Secondly, analyze the list of benefits and drawbacks of each field you choose on either side of the fence, i.e., if you choose science vs. arts to play with data, you won’t be happy with the results even if you end up finding work that interests you. These areas of study could include math, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, etc. All the disciplines listed here are relevant to both sides of the industry, so one need not worry too much about which area suits them best. If you love math, you will definitely be able to land a mathematics degree or be able to pursue Masters- or PhD-level degrees in the math field. But if you enjoy working on computers, physics, and chemistry, you may not find a good niche in computer science. To truly achieve anything, you must be willing to put in the effort, time, and commitment required. The only way to achieve financial stability is through persistence and dedication. No matter how much money you earn and how great your skills and knowledge are, you still have to put in the work to get anywhere in life.
It isn’t just the question of how much money you will earn per month or how much profit you can bring in that matters. It’s the process of working toward achieving long-term goals. Once you get started, keep increasing your hours and try working full-time, part-time, or during weekends or holidays. Even if you get a small bonus, work hard for it, and you will be sure to reap the benefits later on.
Once you learn these basic things, a lot of work will start coming your way, especially because the market is growing day by day.
